 Fender Reissue Amp Mods

  • Improvements like this can be done to any Reissue Fender in the "Black Face" line. The Princeton Reverb only has one channel but other options for switchable drive tone are availible for it with push pull pots.

  • Reissue Super Reverb improvements

A general overhaul of the amplifier occurs in which we replace components vital for tone and reliability with better parts. We upgrade power supply caps to 105 degree caps, plate load resistors to carbon composition resistors, cathode resistors to either carbon comps or metal films. Tone stack components are upgraded and all ceramic signal caps are replaced with appropriate silver mica capacitors.

    We do adjust circuit parameters!

We couple the output tubes to the phase inverter circuit with lower value components. This actually increases the perceived low end in the amplifier by making it tighter and more controlled. The flabby low end disappears with this setup.

We take the normal channel on the Deluxe Reverb, Super Reverb and Twin Reverb, among others, and turn it into a vintage tweed channel. We also incorporate reverb into the "Normal" channel. As well as tremolo.

In the end, the normal channel is a sweet drive channel, it's like having a vintage tube driven drive pedal in front of the amp. Or a 59' Bassman cranked...

If you incorporate an A/B switch you effectively have a kick butt, true 2 channel amp, with independent tone controls.

All of the improvements create a reliable and quiet amplifier

It's great! And we warranty the amp for 2 years after we improve it.
